sugar high

Clip to ScrapBook
All anyone has to do is look at what the kids eat for lunch, and it's easy to figure out why they can't control themselves after lunch. My fifth graders eat lunch at 11:30, and they are energetic after lunch, also. I don't usually take them outside right after lunch unless they have earned it as a reward for being especially good in the morning. Sometimes having recess after lunch helps them get the blood sugar level down, and sometimes it just gets them more riled up. Then we have to bring playground problems into the classroom. I think it may depend upon your individual class as to what works.
