treasure map
By Kellie

Clip to ScrapBook
I've used the tea method of treasure map making. It turns out really cool if, after you draw the map (don't use too much crayon, better to stick with pencil or ink)wipe a wet tea bag over the whole thing, ball it up (kids really wonder about this step)and let it dry over night. Then open it up and rub vegetable oil into it. We even tear the edges a bit to make it look used. It really looks like parchment.

Another idea is to carve skrimshaw(is that right?) out of little bars of hotel soap and ink them with a bit of black tempera.

Have fun!
