too much talking

I have had the same problem with my third graders in the hallway. I have the children line up in a boy's line and a girl's line. The line leaders walk slowly together and they listen for any noise behind them. They have to feel like they are the only ones in the hall. Each line has to try to be the quietest. I walk at the end of the line and tell them that I am the eyes and the line leaders are the ears. They like this challenge and help to remind each other to be quiet. Many ask to be the ears the next and the noise has become silent!
