If I were in your shoes, I'd spend the rest of my time really building a good rapport with the not-so-popular kids. Have fun with them and pay extra special attention to them. You have an opportunity to make them feel special. Those popular kids will go right on brown-nosing and don't really care who it is they have to kiss up to. But those other students (I was one of them) could probably use the extra-special treatment and you'd have a better chance of making a lasting impact on their lives. This is not to say that you should treat the others poorly, just let a new group shine for a change.
