aspberger's
By Julie

Clip to ScrapBook
Have you read any of Tony Attwood's books on Aspberger's? They are a great source for ideas and help. With our asp. students, we've been working on steps of rules (somewhat like the rules of Boys Town), but the whole concept of BT is too rigid. Social Stories to explain how to properly act when receiving help, etc. are helpful. Any time a student exhibits an inappropriate behavior, we pull out the story and go through it. Another idea would be to teach the student to understand how "their engine is running" and how to calm themselves. Hope something helps....but I would really check into the Attwood books if you haven't already.
