I had my second child at the end of July also. I spent the last six weeks of school just gathering things for next year and making copies of stuff for the first week. This way your sub can take that week to get into the routine. I also wrote down all my first of year routines like homework, class rules, graded papers, etc. for the sub to go by that way the kids are already in your routine when you return. I also gave her my lesson plans from last year so that she has a guide of how to plan lessons. We communicated regularly by email as well.
