Teaching Your Own Child
By Deb Robert

Clip to ScrapBook
My daughter is 6 years old and is a member of my classroom. I live in a small rural district also, and sending her to another school is not an option ( I live on an island actually. ) One suggestion that I have is to have her address you at school with a more formal name. By having my daughter call me "Mrs. Robert" at school (rather than mom), like the other kids do, it has helped her to separate school and home...thus helping her to separate 'home behavior' from 'school behavior'. Surprisingly, she has never 'slipped' and called me MOM at school. She has however, slipped and called me Mrs. Robert at home!
