WHERE TO SETTLE

I teach in South Carolina. You could go onto our district's website for a representative sample of teacher salaries for our district. As South Carolina districts go, it pays well because of its location - near the state capital. For more information, go to Kershaw County. They do post their salaries on that website. Also, I have taught in North Carolina and my husband now teaches there. We live near Charlotte. Charlotte pays the highest in the state. There is the state salary, which is standard throughout the state of North Carolina, but Mecklenburg County (Charlotte) adds the best benefits and local supplement. They have expanded their benefits since we moved down here from Pennsylvania.
