I just started working with the Foss Kits. I find them to be great starting points for investigative inquiry and free exploration. I have heard some teachers berate them as nothing more than playtime. However, I disagree...I believe that at this stage children must explore freely to begin to grasp basic scientific concepts. Many important inventions and advances in science sprang from great men and women who were just "playing around." As I mentioned, they are great starting points too, and stimulate multiple extensions across the curriculum. You just need to keep an open and creative mind. I'd enjoy hearing feedback from other's in regards to their experiences.
