Keepin' them busy.
By Sprocket

Clip to ScrapBook
At the girl scout camp I volunteer at in the summer, my kids often go on long van or bus rides. One thing I always do is create a "travel pack" for my kids. They get a packet with information about where we are going, things to look for, an "out the window scavenger hunt", some colored paper and oragami instructions (all printed off the internet) and other do-it-yourself activities. Mazes, word and number puzzles and a few partner games will also keep them occupied. I usually include a fun pencil with everyone's pack and occasionally I put in strings for cat's cradle and jacob's ladder, which I teach to about 5 kids and then they pass it on.
