inclusion

Clip to ScrapBook
I have been an Inclusion Special Needs teacher for 5 years. I serve special needs students in the regular classroom who aren't that far behind their peers. We have a literacy collaborative program at our school. I teach guided reading groups and assist my students and reg. ed. students in writing workshop. I have witnessed that my students have really blossomed as readers due to discussions with their peers about the books they are reading. Since every one is reading at their own reading level it makes it more conducive for special needs students to participate. Their behvior is improved because they don't want to appear different. Collaborating with the teachers is a challenge, but it is worth it.
