Many teachers do have very detailed sub folders and lesson plans. Unfortunately, sometimes you will come across the situation you had. Sometimes it depends on the building or district your subbing in. Some adminstrators are more strict about how teachers prepare for a guest teacher than others. Sometimes it can depend on if the classroom teacher has subbed before or not. It seems like those who have subbed before prepare a little more. I subbed for one first grade teacher who not only had all the details you mentioned, but also had excellent easy to follow lesson plans as well as color pictures of each student and a little note about each one. Wow! Talk about a great room to sub in : )
