Clip to ScrapBook
Hi there. I just saw your post and we have just worked on area. I first use decks of cards to cover their desk tops, different sizes, so they know that area is the surface that you cover.
Then as an activity, we use grid paper and the children trace their hand, with fingers and thumb closed in together. They count the squares to get about what the area of their hand is. They take home the rest of the grid paper and do it again with a family member's hand.
Any scrap paper left from the grid, we use to make an art picture but they must only use full squares and then count up the area.
Have fun!!!
