Hands-on
By Ann

Clip to ScrapBook
I also teach hands-on equations to my fifth-graders. This is my first year teaching and I am impressed at this way of teaching algebra. It is amazing to see the problems that kids are able to solve at such a young age. I didn't learn how to do these types of problems until eighth grade!

Also, the kids LOVE when we do these lessons. I model problems using the large scale, we practice some as a class and then the children do some problems on their own. This takes about 45 minutes a lesson. I just gave my first hands-on equations test over the first 7 lessons, which I thought was pretty hard! I had 2 B's and 19 A's...I was amazed!!!!
