5-4-3-2-1.....presto!
By Sarah

Clip to ScrapBook
I get my kids attention for things like clean up, group time, center activities using a 5-4-3-2-1...presto! method. I usually flicker the lights. Then I say 5, on your pockets, 4, hands in you lap, 3 lips together, 2 eyes on me, 1 ready to listen, and presto, they are ready to go. I give them time limits for all of their work too, this usually helps cut on the talking. Usually! Also, I will tell them, "Simon Says, Hands on your head..." this immediately gets their attention and their hands away from distractions...those who follow thru the fastest get a sticker on their reward chart. Keep in mind, chatters need to be seperated at specific times of the day...hope that helps!
