5th grade

This is my 2nd year to teach 5th grade and I really like it. I taught 4th, college, and 8th. There is something about this age group that I really like. We're self-contained for the most part, but we do switch for math (to ability group - and I have some of the lower math students. That way, the more advanced learners move on to the 6th grade book). I had a problem with cliques last year, but not this year. I think it depends on the group of kids you have. When I did have cliques, I tried to talk to the kids (mostly girls) on a regular basis, to remind them of including everyone, etc... They were still very sweet girls, just needed direction.
