As Texas teacher says: You're not alone!
By Carolyn

Clip to ScrapBook
I teach in South Carolina. Until last year, we tested kids in math and reading, then lo and behold!: even more testing comes along! We are now not just responsible for preparing kids for testing in math and reading, but also in science and social studies. Yuck! I agree with the Texas teacher who says that all of this is taking the fun out of learning. We have PACT (the state test's name) practice workbooks which I have the kids get out from time to time, and they groan, also. Sure, they may get better "scores" because of it, but what have we gained? A bunch of kids who can take a test and pass? I agree that there isn't as much fun in teaching, or probably learning, as there used to be.
