one thing administrators might look at By Chicago Teacher
|
| I taught 2 years and then started a new job this year. I moved from an inner city school setting to a suburban setting. Adminstrators were interested in my intercultural experience (because that made me stand out). My current principal has told me he hired me because my experience reflected (accurately!) that I am a 'take the ball and run' type teacher who uses what I have and does the best with it. I'm creative and take initiative. I think it really depends on the individual adminstrators/district - but whatever it is that they want, they'll be looking for proof of it in 1-references/observations, 2- classes/grades, 3- experience. So of course if you have kid experience, that will give you a better chance of having the "it" that they want!
