golden guests

We have a "Golden Guest" Day at our school which is always a favorite event. Last year, I had the children make "golden guest" awards to present to their grandparents. I designed a basic paper award similar to the one used for the Academy Awards and the children decorated it to look like their guest. The base was done on gold (yellow) paper and labeled with "Golden Guest Award." Each child decided what kind of award they would like to present to thier guest. Ideas ranged from "Best Baker" to"Best Hugger" to "Funniest Story-Teller." These honors were written on the base as well. I glued the paper trophies on card stock (book marker size) and had them laminated. Needless to say, our presentation ceremony produced lots of laughs, as well as a few tears!
