splits cont'd
By Sarah

Clip to ScrapBook
If I could keep my group 2 years in a row, then I could do 4th grade one year, 5th grade the next for Social Studies or Science, but I have a new group the next year. Our educational situation is such that I have to teach two different programs in one setting (except as suggested I can overlap language and math). But I don't want the 4th graders to do any 5th grade SS or Science since their next year's teacher doesn't want them to come in having learned it.

Hmmm. Splits can be OK I think if you have support to say teach the 5's alone while the 4's are in the library with the librarian, or something like that. Having them each in your room all the time without assistance means I just can't do justice to either curriculum fully.
