Clip to ScrapBook
Today, out of the blue, one of my 1st grade students asked what would happen if someone came into the school to steal her. I reminded her that the doors are locked except for the one by the office. "What if they grabbed me in the hall?" she asked. I told her that there are many grown ups here who can look out for her. She smiled with a look of relief and said, I know Mrs. H.(our principal) would fight a bad guy for me!" Now there is a vote of confidence!
I wondered how all this had come to mind and found out that when we had "lock-down" emergency practice last fall and someone had tried their classroom door, she had thought that there really was a "bad guy" in the school and not just the principal and custodian checking that every room complied.
