Poetry
By RitaFirstGrade

Clip to ScrapBook
Becca, the Thanksgiving poem was actually a song as well. I do LOTS of songs with my kids that are in the form of poetry. They LOVE it! For Thanskgiving, the kids sang 4 songs for their parents, one of which had lots of information
about the pilgrims/mayflower. They can learn alot through song and the parents love it! I have my kids keep poetry binders and copies of all the songs and poems go in the binder. Each week I try to choose a poem that uses the new sight words that we are learning that week. It gives them practice reading those words and they get to search for them and highlight them. Also, the
kids can get out their poetry binders if they finish something early. The binders are a favorite choice! They love to read old poems and color the pictures.
