I also have the Scott Foresman Series for grade 5 science. I have found that it is easier to pull the blackline masters from each unit out of the original master booklets. I put the originals in plastic protector sheets and make large notebooks on the areas that I teach. For instance, Earth Science information is placed in the large notebook with particular chapters behind dividers. When I find information that might be useful with that unit I also place the information in that folder. When I make a unit for a particular "Big Idea"(weather, rock cycles, etc) in science, I pull from the large notebook to form a curriculum folder of the materials that I will use to meet the state mandated guidelines. It is easy to edit and also to keep up with. Since I use the text book as springboard for hands-on inquiry lessons, this helps me manage the materials better. I hope this helps you.
