Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Hi,
You can do it. I graduated in MAy 2001 and wasn't hired until the first day of school at the end of August that year. So when I entered the classroom I had students the next day. No setting up, no organizing,
no nothing. And I am an art teacher and the previous art teacher didn't order any supplies. I was scared to death. But what I kept remembering was that I loved being around kids and helping them create. My school paired me up with a mentor teacher who went to the conferences with me and showed me the ropes. So if there is a mentor program in the district you get hired in, go for
it. The mentor teachers are just there to help. Lastly I didnt feel like my college prepared me as well to be an art educator compared to the regular elementary educators. And now, 3 years later, I can honestly say I love my job!
