MLK craft ideas
By Mariilyn B.

Clip to ScrapBook
Martin Luther King tried to make societal changes using non-violent methods. Perhaps you can emphasize peace and tolerance in teaching about him.

Two ideas come to mind. Although origami peace cranes are made more in
recognition of the bombing of Japan and our hopes that it never happens again, you could still make the paper figures. This Japanese site shows how.

One Sky One World is an international kite fly that's held every year to encourage world peace. The Web site is located

at http://www.earthnet.net/~jpa/osow/.

There are many online sources that have kite-making instructions. Perhaps you could make kites and then have a kite fly, if your weather permits.

Finally, visit this section of HumanityQuest.com for lots of activities that teach about tolerance.
