Holidays
By MJH

Clip to ScrapBook
I don't teach holidays either and I'm a K teacher. In October I teach about Fall, November is Harvest and Then and Now, we do have a Harvest Celebration right before our Thanksgiving break. In December I teach winter and
we have a winter celebration and we do exchange gifts because most cultures do allow gifts during that time period. January is Famous Americans and American Symbols which takes me through most of Febrary. I end February with Black History. March is my unit on Spring and plants then April is animals and life cycles. May is Summer and practice for our Kindergarten Celebration program.

I

have not had any parent complain about not focusing on the holidays. I have had parents who didn't want their child involved in holiday activities when I did teach them. Many holidays are relegion based and I try to steer clear of them for that reason since their are so many diffences of opinions about school, relegion, holidays and now even the pledge.
