Clip to ScrapBook
I'm so glad it's not just my kids! Just this week, I've had two students complain that money was stolen from their desk, one missing a box of leads for her mechanical pencil, another one missing a book he had brought from
home, and two missing erasers. Some of the missing stuff is probably just misplaced, but it seems as if lately anything that gets left on top of a desk disappears!

Most pathetic of all is that the few times someone has 'fessed up to taking something, usually because someone witnessed the crime, he or she will say something like, "Well, it was on the floor." So that makes it OK to

take it??? I even had one little darling who I sent to another teacher's room to take a make-up test. She sat at the desk of an absent student and took three pencils out of that person's pencil box. Her excuse: "Well, they were on the desk where I was sitting." So that makes them hers?!
