How can they tell you to not "threaten to call a child's parent?" The other stuff about putting your hands on a child for any reason I can at least understand if not fully agree with (Leading them to their seat is sometimes necessary with the very young primary level. But not calling home when a student is having an issue with behavior is simply nuts. Did they say WHY you werent supposed to call a parent? I'd look in to that part of the mandate because that's sometimes the ONLY thing I have to fall back on when all else fails ( I have a class full of absolute monsters). When students get to their red card, which is after 1 verbal warning, and 3 additonal violations in one day I call their parents. Parents need to be notified when their child is acting like a complete idiot in the classroom. Good luck to you and I hope someone changes at least that part of the mandate because it is completely crazy.
