ADHD
By Paul

Clip to ScrapBook
Hello Joanna, I have worked closely with a child who has ADHD when i was a student. The problems we encountered were a lack of concentration, could not play in groups and generally just running wild climbing over tables etc.
The only advice i could offer is that you or someone else works closely with the child giving him/her one to one support, get the child to understand the daily routine. The child i worked with seemed to be in a world of his own totally unaware of others around him, he would not sit at circle time, we used a special rug given to him by his grand parents to sit on this seemed to work,
also a consistent routine of reminding him of the rules about what he can do and should not do. Base this around what the child likes to do (activities) etc and deny the child their favourite activity or use it as a re-inforcer for good behaviour..its a slow process but it seems to work.
