Bucket O' Fish
By Ryan

Clip to ScrapBook
What I have found as a substitute that works for the middle school grades is a little thing I call the Bucket O' Fish. What it is in an old Goldfish cracker bucket that I keep stocked with candy. I explain at the beginning
of the period that 3 people will have a chance to win a pick out of it. If I see any misbehavior then their name is removed from the chance list. At the end of the period I randomly choose three students (either by placing my finger on a name on the attendance list or if the teacher has sticks she pulls by doing that) if the student I chose had perfect behavior they choose, if not I choose
again. I do this for 3 people. It's amazing how it works and everytime I'm in they are asking me if I have the Bucket O' Fish with me! **Note, the 7th grade class this year is the worst in 35 years (according to a veteran teacher) and it even works with them!
