I try to stagger my marking- only collect their journals monthly, for e.g. I take a lot up in class and try to mark while they are working (i.e. walk around during math giving assistance and also checking yesterday's work). I try to only mark what I have to, and as a result, I should probably mark more, but I figure that it's not worth it to either myself or the students. Also, I will occasionally ask a student to mark (the ones who like to- objective things like spelling). This is when a class of 20 is sure nicer than a class of 30! I'm waiting for the year when I won't have more than 25 students...
