I think I've lost it........

I need feedback...let me have it!
I'm a Pre-K teacher in a public school setting with a mostly free-lunch population. I love my job and my kids....I'd better...I've been doing it for 20 years! But I really messed up
yesterday. I have several kids, as I always do, who are obviously exposed to "adult entertainment", whether it be on tv, video or in the flesh. I had a child say and do some really graphic things in class yesterday. I have been addressing this issue with her "very difficult" mother, all year. Today, I was reprimanded by my principal for writing the exact phrase the child said to others

in class, in the child's daily folder. My thinking was that I wanted the mother to see and recognize what we were hearing in class. The mother went ballistic and took the note to the principal. The principal told me I was inappropriate. I think the child's behavior is inappropriate and symptomatic of what she's observing at home. Help!!!! I have lost perspective. Miss b
