    try not to worry

Don't worry. Maybe your principal has a heads up on something--what is your area of certification? With NCLB, it is more difficult to teach at the middle school level without a specific field of certification. Maybe you aren't "highly qualified" for that field with regard to your certification and she is trying to move you to a position where you are so you can keep a job. Perhaps the middle school position you are in is not permanent. Does she see a population move with numbers, does she anticipate a retirement or resignation that would push you into another position? These are just possibiblities. If she does, in fact, feel you are better qualified for elementary or feels that you are not doing a great job, then discuss the transfer with her. Either way, if you have a union, discuss this with your building rep. Try not to worry and see if you can set up an appointment with her to see why she wants you to transfer. Good luck and let us know how things turn out.
