This is what I do. . .

Clip to ScrapBook
I am a second year teacher who is doing centers for the first time this year. I teach third grade. I do a bulletin board center every other week. It is called Create A Board. I simply put paper and a border on the board
and give the class a theme. Our current history section is covering William Penn, Ben Franklin, and George Washington. I divided the board into 3 groups and wrote each man's name on their section. I then gave the class the objective of using their supplies to show me what they have learned about these three men. I gave the students pipe cleaners, popsicle sticks, construction paper,
straws, pom pom balls, and rubber cement. Over that week of centers the kids rotated through and created and added on to this board. I am amazed each week at their creativity. They used popsicle sticks to create Mount Vernon, construction paper to show Ben Franklin with his kite and key, and so on. This is a great way to reinforce what they have learned in their reading.
