more on weather....
By Cathy-Dee

Clip to ScrapBook
I live in Northern Alberta and sometimes even I can't handle the cold.

I have only experienced one day where we closed the schools and staff were still expected to come in if they could. That was an unusual freezing rain
day one Spring that slicked down the roads quite a bit.

I've gone to school in -48C which is -54 F which was darn tootin cold!!!! The only thing that happens in my area is that at -40C which is also -40 F our school busses are cancelled. This is only because of the type of fuel they use - it can gel up or freeze up at -40 C so they cancel the busses just in case they should stall

on the way to school and leave the kid's stranded.

BUT the schools are still open and we get about 1/4 of the students who are normally driven to school or who only live a short walking distance away.

All the talk about snow days this past week made me a tiny bit envious!
