Testing wears me out
By Tanya

Clip to ScrapBook
My fourth graders' test scores are the ones that "show" the school is not leaving children behind. The stress is enormous. What happened to the bell curve? We're wondering--if no child is left behind--they all meet the
high standards, does this mean all of my fourth graders will be going to Harvard in 8 years?

I'm wondering why I'm losing sleep because little Johnny or Susie never reads at home(as assigned) and every time we assess their reading level is stays below 4.0. Should I go home with them to make sure they're reading or being read to?

I'm thinking maybe Proteacher needs a new board to

discuss ways parents need to own some accountablilty. I really think that so much of NCLB relates back to the parents who don't reinforce education at home. Look at the vents--kids don't come to school, or they go on vacation for a few weeks or they don't do homework. Sorry for venting. I just feel much too responsible for getting many kids who just don't care, to meet standard in every subject.
