Vacations/Absences

After reading what you all have written I feel lucky. My administrator backs us up in terms of vacation. Vacations taken during the school year is not excused. Teachers have the option of giving the child the work or not.
I usually do. However, when parent's request it before hand. I tell them that I am reallly not sure how far we will get with the lessons, or what stumblinb blocks we might have, therefore I will keep a folder with the necessary assignments and the student will be given the folder upon their return. When the student returns they are given the folder with a date on when it is all due

back. If it is not back at that time then so be it. I am not the one that choose to take the student out of school. My children have never been on a vacation except during vacation times. So why should every one elses kids get to? I mean I already take enough time away from my children because I am busy grading assignments for studnets who were on vacation.
