sorry I didn't answer sooner...been on spring break...and in hawaii!!!

it is a picture/symbol program...it has a gazillion pictures you can substitute for words....so

let's say you have a child who reads very simple words ...you can write a story for them using boardmaker and when you get to words they won't/dont/ know then you can substitute a picture for the word... I make up our daily schedule with pictures I make social stories that include pictures I use them to make rhyming words for matching I write the class poem that we're working

on in boardmaker so the non reader can follow along and learn some reading skills and words...
I used it to teach my class Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer last December when I discovered no one knew the words to the song....
the uses are endless
you can make games, flash cards, books, posters, and on and on....check out the site...it has a lot of info on it.
