    Another parent story
    By Lucy

I worked as an Educational Assistant for many years (even tho I am a licensed teacher). I constantly was called into the principal's office because I wasn't working with so and so's child so I was discriminating against their child. This same principal had to constantly be told that I did not choose which children I worked with that it was a teacher decision. The classroom teacher were the ones who made the choices not me. Sometimes parents would find me and ask me why I didn't work with their child and I would have to tell them the teachers made the choices not me. No one would ever listen to me-not the principal and not the parents and not the teachers. Obviously I couldn't inform parents that the children who I was chosen to work with were students who were academically struggling, making up tests or discipline problems because then I would be giving out confidential information. So my personel file has complaints from parents that I discriminated (which I didn't). But I cannot challenge the file because an Educational Assistant has no union rights!
