Houston By TX teacher

I know that Houston does offer incentives for teachers to come and teach in their city. They especially recruit teachers from up North. (I am not from Houston, but a city a couple of hours away frpom there.) But, the one| negative thing about Houston is that there are too many people living in that city and there are constant traffic problems/delays. Most highways have multiple lanes, but there are still major backups. Just going 10 miles can be a major ordeal. It once took me 3 hours to drive through the city on I-10. I had an aunt that taught there and liked it, but all she complained about was the | | traffic to and from work. Maybe if you lived just down the street from your school it wouldn't be a big deal. I wanted to add to what the poster above said about being bilingual. It is true if you know Spanish you'll get a job quickly. Also, in my experience, the bilingual kids have usually been better behaved than those in the regular classes. Good luck in your decision. Karen
