Houston
By TX teacher

Clip to ScrapBook
I know that Houston does offer incentives for teachers to come and teach in their city. They especially recruit teachers from up North. (I am not from Houston, but a city a couple of hours away frpom there.) But, the one
negative thing about Houston is that there are too many people living in that city and there are constant traffic problems/delays. Most highways have multiple lanes, but there are still major backups. Just going 10 miles can be a major ordeal. It once took me 3 hours to drive through the city on I-10.

I had an aunt that taught there and liked it, but all she complained about was the

traffic to and from work. Maybe if you lived just down the street from your school it wouldn't be a big deal.

I wanted to add to what the poster above said about being bilingual. It is true if you know Spanish you'll get a job quickly. Also, in my experience, the bilingual kids have usually been better behaved than those in the regular classes.

Good luck in your decision.
Karen
