Hello from Perth, Western Australia.
Yes the best place on earth. Although at the moment we are having a heatwave 39 and 40 and 41 C for the next few days.
I agree with everything Suzie said.
Mem Fox has some fantastic
story books about Australia. eg Possum Magic brings in a possum travelling around Australia and tasting various Australian foods.
Maybe you could get hold of vegemite and have a taste. Personally I hate it but all our kids love it. ANZAC biscuits are an easy cooking recipe to make. Have made it with a whole school before.
Don Spencer has some great simple Aussie songs about

animals etc.
You could also look at some of your words and give them the names we call things. I have a list at school I will look out. I had an american mum give it to me when we did USA in 2001.
Some are bin or rubbish bin - trash can. Path, footpath for sidewalk.
