re: changing grades By anonymous

Talk to your union rep and see what they have to say. This #$%#^& about changing grades is for the birds. The administration always tries to lay this on the newer teachers. My first year I was told that my grades were the| lowest in the building and that the principal had never seen such terrible report cards. I made a point of checking the past report cards of all the students in question and found that the very same kids I had given poor grades to had received similar marks from previous teachers. I always have plenty of supporting evidence for the final grades and virtually never give a failing mark | | to anyone unless they have exhibited absolutely no effort, but it really frosts my cookies to be told that those who make the choice to do no work should have the bar lowered for them so that they can "succeed". What about the kids who bust their tails on every asignment and test and still don't quite get there? How does it make them feel to know that some of their lazy, do-nothing classmates are being rewarded for their lack of initiative and motivation?
