Clip to ScrapBook
I take a tour and look for things they have not seen. The pictures of our old school the framed work and certificates that students have earned, the rooms they do not go to Speech, band, reading recovery andthe janitor's
places. Our office houses many rooms for special ed. guidance, principal copy machine etc. Most have been to the nurses by now but we stop and say hello. We make a map of our room like we are looking at it from above, we use things like our pink erasers to show where our desk is etc. Then we make a map of our desk--everyone has to put 3 things on top. They get the idea. I read books
about school long ago and we play a few games that the children played long ago. We talk about our school mascot and what other animal might have been a good choice. Sometimes we make a class flag. I usually ask a PTA mom to talk a little about things that volunteers do to help a school. We always send thank yous to the people that work in our school. Hope that sparks a few ideas.
