bathrooms

I allow my first grade students to go to the bathroom any time they need to. I do discourage them from going during direct instruction. But if it is an emergency, I always let them go!! One of my daughter's high schools| teachers has a no bathroom policy. I hit the roof when I saw that. As a parent my first question was when they went and got their medical degree? I could take them to court and win this. I actually went to the doctor and had her write an excuse for her. She looked at me and said...That is illegal for a teacher to not allow a child to go to the bathroom. Then she said It's a language | |
teacher right? Imagine. She had to write many notes just because of this one teacher. That was only one doctor. I had a little chat with the principal. She had a fit to say the least. Any way..I know the bathroom thing is hard, but I'm so so happy that I don't have a bathroom in my classroom. Have you ever smelled one of those? Count your blessings and just let the kids go.
