Clip to ScrapBook
I am not a second year teacher. I am a seasoned veteran who just happens to be working with a rookie principal who thinks she knows it all. After my first formal observation, she told me that I didn't have good classroom
managemnt. This was after I had been told that I was doing all that I could by my previous principal. I have never considered classroom management a problem; however, this class of fifth graders I have this year is very hormonal and challenging to work with.

I think it depends upon what type of school you are working in. I work in a high poverty school where children are rude and

disrespectful. My feeling is that if parents aren't good parents, you can't do much better with them. Good school discipline begins at home. I want you to know also, that principals like to place the blame on teachers when children don't behave.

Analyze what you are doing. If you are doing all that you feel you can do and are not giving them too many chances, then I would say that you have good classroom management. Do you have a difficult class?
