I use Saxon math with my fifth graders. In Algebra 1/2 there are 30 questions daily plus practice problems as part as the lesson. I don't if your son's teacher assigns practice, but normally the minimum number of practice| problems is 2. Usually there are about 4. So with those 4 practice problems, plus the other 30, it takes awhile to cover the whole thing! I think it is perfectly fine that they are spending two days per lesson. I think that student's learn math better if they spend two days on something. I think you will be very pleased with Saxon math. Everything is always reviewed. Every lesson/problem | | set has questions from past lessons. You could be on set 50 and they might ask a question from set 4! On tests, things are also reviewed. In other levels of the saxon books, they review things from previous lessons. I think it is great because it helps kids remember what they have learned and that is terific because so many things in math play on other skills, and if students can't remember those other skills, they aren't going to grasp the newest concept as quick.
