plan By Vicky

The best plan I've seen used was at a third and fourth grade school where I used to work. The ofice had separate discipline pads printed up for classroom and school-wide infractions. We were given a chart to keep up with| each child's classroom infractions. Every time a child broke a classroom rule they had to pull a ticket on the third ticket they were issued a discipline slip. We had to call the parents to inform them that a slip was coming home. The slips were signed and returned for our records. Every three slips resulted in an afternoon detention. These were held twice a week for an hour.During detention, | | students worked on a character ed. program. School-wide infractions like fighting, being disrespectful to staff, and cheating were written up on a different form and sent directly to the office for more serious concequences. This seemed to work well. We had plenty of documentation, the after-school detentions got the attention of the parents and the students, and the office wasn't constantly dealing with lesser offenses. Of course, if a child became a habitual offender more severe steps were taken, but those were very few. Good luck with your plan!
