ss curriculum
By Carolyn-SC teacher

Clip to ScrapBook
I teach in South Carolina, but I am sure our curriculum must be close to yours. I teach fifth grade, and I am also familiar with the fourth grade curriculum.

Our state curriculum states curriculum requirements by grade
level. Fourth grade teaches from the early explorers up to and including the Civil War. I am supposed to pick up with the Post Civil War Reconstruction. We have the Harcourt Brace social studies curriculum, and I believe it fits our needs quite well.

Of course, I always have to talk with to fourth grade teacher to see where she left off. My class this year had social studies up

to the Civil War, but not much of it. So, I knew I had to start there, rather than the Reconstruction. Our fifth grade curriculum is supposed to take it from the Reconstruction up to and including the present day, which covers a lot, actually. We are doing a number of wars: Spanish American War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, etc.

Are you cooling down in AZ now? We were there last summer, and boy was it hot!!!Where in Arizona do you live?
