Unclear plans
By Heather

Clip to ScrapBook
I have heard this time after time. "The teachers' plans aren't clear". "I dind't understand what she wrote."

I tell all my subs to do what they think is right. Do what you can, the teacher should understand.

I always
tell the teachers not to expect the subs to grade any papers, print the lesson plans for that day, and have everything laid out for them. In our school, if a teacher is going to be out (planned), they have to turn in the plans to me, I have to check them (They are always good), and when the sub comes in, I am responsible for giving the information to her. We had huge problems with teachers
not leaving any work for subs, so we created this procedure to ensure the principal that the sub was doing something productive with the students.

We also have a sub folder which they are required to leave for the sub containing all the important information one needs to get through the day.

Just do the best that you can do. If she didn't say collect papers - don't. Leave her notes on everything that went on that day, be precise, but don't write a novel.
