noodles
By Sarah

Clip to ScrapBook
I used noodles and pasta when I taught my Strega Nona Unit. We ready all the Strega Nona books through the week. We put some pasta in the sensory table. I used some of them for art projects...one, I think, was create
your own pasta recipe, and they glued the pasta to a plate and the added other art things with it, on the back we glued a recipe card with what they named their dish and the "ingredients" I also used them for sorting, I drew a picture of each kind of noodle on the bottom of a styrophom bowl and the sorted them out, they enjoyed that. They also made necklaces. And I cut up some cream colored
yarn and added it to the dramatic play area, they "cooked" pasta for weeks. These books are also cool because you can use them to teach some Italian words, my kids liked "Grazie"! Everyday at lunch instead of Thank you they say "grazie". It was a very fun unit. You can do extensions with "On top of Spaghetti" and there are a few other books that escape my right now. Look it up though, there are lots of ideas floating around out there. Hope that helps!
